Man found guilty of 2017 murder of wife in San Antonio

Elizabeth Sierra Contreras’ body was found in a field on the city’s south side on Aug. 8, 2017, and her husband was arrested the following week.

SAN ANTONIO — A jury has found Guadalupe Contreras guilty of murdering his wife back in 2017.

On Aug, 14, 2017, the San Antonio Police Department announced they had made an arrest in connection to the murder of then 38-year-old Elizabeth Sierra Contreras.

Her family reported to police that she had been missing since Aug. 3 of that same year when she left home to get her work schedule at Mission Trails Baptist Hospital and never came home.

Before she was found, Elizabeth’s family told KENS 5 that she has a daughter who had has asking for her mom every day.

“We’re not giving up. We’re going to keep trying until she comes home,” Lillian Sierra said. “Until we hear anything, we’re not giving up on her. And if she’s out there, we hope she knows that.”

Her body was located by investigators in a south-side field on Aug. 8, 2017, and was later identified.

The case now moves into the sentencing phase.
