Man hit and killed while attempting to cross west-side highway, SAPD says

Police said the driver involved stopped to call for help and is not expected to face any charges.

SAN ANTONIO — A 19-year-old man was killed early Thursday after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a highway on the city’s west side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

SAPD said the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. along the 7600 block of U.S. Highway 90 near Gunsmoke Drive. The man, identified as Jacob Wood, was trying to cross the main lanes when he was struck by a vehicle, according to investigators.

Officials said the driver attempted to swerve and avoid the man but ultimately struck him. The driver of the vehicle stopped, called police and cooperated with the investigation, according to SAPD.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said no charges are expected to be filed in the case.
