Man Hit by Car After Bar Fight on SE Military; Suspect Arrested, Police Say

A late-night brawl at a southeast-side bar escalated into a hit-and-run, injuring one man and leading to an aggravated assault charge for another.

SAN ANTONIO — A late-night fight inside a southeast-side bar escalated into a violent hit-and-run that left one man injured and another facing an aggravated assault charge, according to San Antonio police.

It happened around 12:27 a.m. Sunday at a bar in the 2400 block of SE Military Drive. Police say a dispute between a 35-year-old man and a 41-year-old man began over a card game and quickly turned physical. Bar staff intervened and escorted both men outside.

Investigators say the suspect left with a family member and got behind the wheel of a white Toyota Corolla while the victim stayed in the parking lot waiting for his rideshare. As the suspect began driving away, officers say he saw the victim still standing in the lot and intentionally struck him with the vehicle before fleeing.

Witnesses provided officers with the suspect’s license plate number. Police later located the vehicle and took the 41-year-old man into custody on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Police emphasize the information released is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues.
