Man hospitalized after being struck by train in San Antonio

SAPD says a male in his 20s was on the track for an unknown reason but was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department has confirmed that a male in his 20s has been hospitalized after being struck by a train.

Around 4 p.m. Sunday, SAPD responded to reports of someone being hit by a train off of Northeast Loop 410 near IH 35 North Access Road. Officials said the train conductor called in and reported the incident himself.

Upon arrival, officials found a man in his 20s in critical condition with a laceration to his face and a broken leg. Police said the man wasn’t able to give a reason for why he was on the tracks as he was taken to a local hospital, where police say he has since been stabilized.

SAPD said this is an ongoing investigation and no charges have been filed as they believe no one was with the victim and it was an accident, but added that could change pending what they discover in their investigation.
