SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police said three people were in a vehicle on the southeast side early Tuesday morning when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire. One passenger, a man in his 20s, was shot in the back.

The vehicle that was shot at continued to drive and called for help. Police said the driver of that vehicle made everyone get out and took off before officers arrived.

A high-speed chase involving a big rig in Webb County ended when the vehicle was damaged going under an underpass. The rig allegedly was part of a human smuggling ring. Three people were captured, but authorities say the drive escaped across the border into Mexico.
