SAN ANTONIO — A man in his 40s was taken to the hospital late Monday night after being struck by a bullet fragment during a drive-by shooting on San Antonio’s west side, according to police.
The shooting happened around 11:50 p.m. in the 100 block of Segura Street, near Old Highway 90 West.
An SAPD sergeant said the man was standing under his carport when a dark-colored vehicle drove by and someone inside opened fire. Police say one of the bullets hit the victim’s vehicle, ricocheted, and struck him in the stomach.
Investigators said the bullet did not penetrate his body, but he was taken to University Hospital as a precaution.
The suspects fled the area in the vehicle before officers arrived.
San Antonio police, firefighters, and EMS all responded to the scene. No arrests have been made, and a description of the suspects has not yet been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
