Man injured trying to escape fire in his east-side home, SAFD says

Officials say he suffered burns to his hands and his feet.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was injured trying to get out of a quick-moving fire that swept through his east-side home early Sunday monring.

It happened around 3 a.m. in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Drive.

Officials say one person was inside when the fire started in the rear of the home.

The man was able to get out but was injured while trying to escape, suffering burns to his legs and feet.

 He was taken to the hospital in stable condition. 

It’s unknown how the fire started, but officials will investigate. The home sustained moderate damage from the fire.

No other injuries were reported.
