PERRY, Ga. — An 86-year-old man died after a car accident in a Perry garage on Sunday, according to a press release from the Perry Police Department.
They say a 92-year-old driver was attempting to back a car out of the garage when the driver accidentally put the car into drive, striking the victim. They say the accident happened at around 12:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Lovely Lane.
“The victim was sitting in the garage, and the driver was going to back the vehicle out of the garage and unfortunately, [they] put the car in drive and hit the gas,” Jones said. “The victim was sitting in front of the car up against the garage wall.”
He says both Perry Police and the Perry Fire Department responded to the scene, and found the victim with severe injuries. He was transported to the Perry Hospital, where he died.
The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating the situation, and anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to contact 478-988-2800.
