Man pistol-whipped after apparent road rage incident at far west-side QuikTrip, BCSO says

The victim is currently listed as stable with non-life threatening injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said that a man was injured after being struck several times by a handgun after a road rage confrontation Monday afternoon. Authorities had originally called the incident a shooting.

On Tuesday BCSO said, a man got into a confrontation with two unknown men after a near collision in the parking lot of a QuikTrip located off Marbach Road and Loop 410 on the city’s far west-side.

Authorities said the two suspects were joined by four other associates in a marron truck pulling a fifth-wheel trailer loaded with heavy construction equipment.

The suspects reportedly surrounded the victim when one of the men wearing a dark blue shirt, a baseball cap and a long beard pulled out a black handgun. The man then pointed the gun at the victim before striking the victim multiple times in the head with the firearm, according to BCSO.

Officials said the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to University Hospital in stable condition.

After the incident, authorities said the suspects took off in an unknown direction.

According to BCSO, preliminary information indicated it was shooting based on the extent of the injuries. Medical professionals at the hospital later confirmed the victim’s injuries were not caused by a bullet but rather from being struck multiple times.

This is an ongoing investigation.
