
Police said a man went to the location to meet an unknown individual and noticed the person did not match the profile of the individual he was expecting to meet.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was assaulted and robbed by a group of suspects Friday night on the city’s south side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Officers were called around 9:19 p.m. to the 1700 block of Somerset Road.
Police said a 36-year-old man went to the location to meet an unknown individual. When he arrived, police said he noticed the person did not match the profile of the individual he was expecting to meet.
As the man was leaving, he was approached by five to six unknown males, according to SAPD. The group physically assaulted him, causing minor injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
During the assault, the suspects took the man’s wallet, cellphone and keys, police said. The suspects then got into the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene.
The man was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, according to police.
The case remains an ongoing investigation.
