SAN ANTONIO — A 22-year-old man has been sentenced for the 2023 murders of two people, including his ex-girlfriend, court documents say.
Lazerith Carrillo has been sentenced to two 50-year concurrent sentences for the murders of 32-year-old Edward Jimenez and 26-year-old Alyssa Perez, his ex-girlfriend, in 2023.
In January 2023, police say the bodies of Jimenez and Perez were found in a vehicle before 2 a.m. near the 400 block of Trudell Drive, both with gunshot wounds.
Officials were able to arrest Carrillo, 18 at the time, after he allegedly tried to steal a vehicle from another victim at gunpoint.
While he was being arrested, court records say Carrillo was found in possession of the murder weapon, as well as the personal belongings of one of the victims.
Forensic evidence later concluded Carrillo’s DNA and fingerprints were found inside the vehicle.
On Monday, Carrillo received his two 50-year sentences for the murders, both to run concurrently.
