Man sentenced to 10 years after teen overdosed on fentanyl-laced pills, seizure of firearms and cash

A search warrant was then executed, which led detectives to seize almost 9,000 pills, four firearms and more than $45,000 in cash.

HAYS COUNTY, Texas — The Hays County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after a teenager overdosed on fentanyl-laced pills, which led to the seizure of firearms and cash.

In the fall of 2022, deputies responded to reports of a 17-year-old who had overdosed on fake oxycodone pills. Fortunately, the teen survived.

During the investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration agents orchestrated two controlled purchases from 22-year-old Gabriel Cecilio Osorio, the suspect who reportedly provided the fentanyl-laced pills to the teen.

100 pills were acquired by the agents in the first transaction, with 3,000 pills provided in the second.

A search warrant was then executed, which led detectives to seize almost 9,000 pills, four firearms and more than $45,000 in cash.

In addition the the 10-year sentence, Osorio was ordered to forfeit $45,701, four firearms and jewelry.

“Gabriel Osorio’s sentencing today continues this office’s work to stem the tide of the illegal drug distribution of fake pharmaceutical pills containing fentanyl,” said U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza for the Western District of Texas. “Fentanyl poses a significant threat to communities across this district and the United States, and I am grateful to the many federal, state and local law enforcement agencies who join us in prioritizing these very serious drug crimes.”
