Judge Benjamin Robertson sentenced Ronald St. Amie to 40 years for murdering Miguel Angel Garza in San Antonio.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was sentenced to four decades in prison for the murder of a 32-year-old man on San Antonio’s northeast side back in August 2024.
According to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, Judge Benjamin Robertson sentenced Ronald St. Amie to 40 years for shooting and killing 32-year-old Miguel Angel Garza.
On Aug. 20, 2024, San Antonio police responded to a call along the Interstate 35 North Frontage Road, near Rittiman Road by a La Quinta Inn, around 8:30 p.m.
Authorities said Amie approached Garza and his friend, asking if they had marijuana. After Amie was told no, he reportedly became upset and fired multiple shots at the pair. Both men were taken to the hospital and Garza later died from his injuries.
“Although these sentencings cannot bring back the lives that were lost, they ensure accountability for acts that never should have occurred,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said in a statement. “Violence is never the answer, and we will continue to fight every day to pursue justice.”
