Colin King received a 38-year sentence for murdering coworker Shane Bourret in 2019.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was sentenced to nearly 40 years in prison Monday for the 2019 murder of his co-worker, according to a press release from the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.
Judge Michael May sentenced Colin King to 38 years in prison for killing 45-year-old Shane Bourret.
Back in May of 2019, Bourret’s family reported him missing to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office after he stopped communicating with them, during a work trip to San Antonio, according to the press release.
Before his disappearance, Bourret reportedly told his family that he felt threatened by his co-worker, whom was identified as King.
According to the press release, witnesses told investigators that King shot, killed and hid Bourret’s body while staying at an Airbnb on the northwest side. Bourret’s body was eventually found buried in the yard of a vacant house.
“This unthinkable act of violence is a heartbreaking reality that Shane’s loved ones carry every single day,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said. “Today’s sentencing delivers justice for him and his family, and it reaffirms our commitment to standing with victims who can no longer speak for themselves. We honor their voices by ensuring they are never forgotten.”
Another man, Donald Barber was also charged with killing Bourret.
