Man shot by food truck employee northwest of downtown, police say

Police say the man was believed to have stolen money from a tip jar in the past and when he showed up late Saturday, there was an altercation.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot by a food truck employee after an argument northwest of downtown, police say.

It happened just before midnight in the 1100 block of West Hildebrand near Blanco Road.

According to police, the man was accused of stealing from a food truck’s tip jar in the past and was lingering around the same food truck.

Someone working in the food truck confronted the man and they started arguing. That’s when police say the employee pulled out a gun and shot the suspected thief.

He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The employee was detained by police and it’s unclear if anyone is facing any charges.

This is a developing story.
