SAN ANTONIO — A northwest-side homeowner was shot after confronting three suspects who were trying to steal a vehicle from his property, police say.
San Antonio Police responded to the 6300 block of Bowman Ridge near De Zevaka Road around 3:23 a.m. Saturday for reports of a shooting in progress.
According to the police sergeant at the scene, three men were trying to break into a vehicle when the homeowner saw them on a doorbell camera. He went outside to scare them off.
At least one gun was drawn by one of the suspects and shots were fired. The homeowner, a man in his 30s, was hit once in the chest. He was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.
The three would-be car thieves fled from the scene on foot, leaving behind the stolen car they had arrived in.
Police and SAPD Eagle searched the area but were unable to locate the men.
No other injuries were reported.
