SAN ANTONIO — A man was taken to the hospital after being shot during a robbery Saturday night on San Antonio’s west side, according to police.
Officers were called to the 2400 block of Potosi Street around 7:43 p.m. after reports of a shooting in progress.
Police said the 45-year-old man was walking near Tampico Street and Southwest 21st Street when a black sedan pulled up next to him. The passenger inside the vehicle reportedly yelled for the man to put his hands up.
Investigators said the suspect then pistol-whipped the man, knocking him to the ground. During a struggle, the suspect took the man’s cell phone and then shot him in the lower extremity before fleeing the scene as a passenger in the black sedan.
Officers arrived to find the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made, and police have not released a description of the suspect beyond the vehicle involved.
Detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information is urged to contact San Antonio police or Crime Stoppers.
