SAN ANTONIO — A man was shot and killed by police after he tried to hit an officer with his car while the officer was trying to execute an arrest warrant.
San Antonio Police responded to a home on Cheviot Heights on the northwest side of town around 12:45 a.m. Sunday to execute a warrant.
Police say it all began when the suspect, a man in his 40s, allegedly hit a woman with his car sometime Saturday afternoon. Officers secured a warrant for the man’s arrest, and when they arrived at the home to take him into custody, he tried to reverse between the two police vehicles.
The suspect struck an SAPD officer and a second officer opened fire on the suspect to stop him. He was hit once in the chest. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but EMS arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The Officer who shot the suspect has about four years on the force.
Police say the woman who the suspect originally hit is in the hospital with serious injuries.
The officer was taken to the hospital to get checked out.
No other information was provided.
This is a developing story.
