Man shot while giving woman ride near northeast side motel, police say

A man was injured after someone fired into his vehicle outside a northeast side motel early Thursday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is recovering after being shot while giving a woman a ride on the northeast side of San Antonio early Thursday morning.

According to San Antonio police, officers were dispatched around 2:50 a.m. to the 1200 block of Northeast Loop 410 for a shooting in progress.

Investigators say the victim, a 38-year-old man, had picked up a woman at another location and drove her to the area. After she got out of the vehicle, an unknown suspect approached.

Police say the victim attempted to drive away when the suspect fired into the vehicle, striking him in the upper body.

The victim was able to leave the scene and drove to a nearby Chevron at Loop 410 and Nacogdoches Road, where he called for help.

He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say both the suspect and the woman have not been located.

No arrests have been announced.

The investigation remains ongoing.
