Man struck by driver while crossing street against the signal, police say

SAN ANTONIO — A man was struck by a driver on the northeast side while crossing the street against the signal, police say.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Perrin Beitel at Perrin Central, not far from Wurzbach Parkway.

Officers say the driver of a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country struck the 48-year-old man while he was crossing the street inside a designated crosswalk, but against the signal.

The driver remained at the scene and assisted with all aspects of the investigation. Police say the driver didn’t show signs of intoxication.

The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition where he was being treated for his major injuries.

This is a developing story.
