Man wanted for New Year’s Day road-rage shooting arrested after weapon, drugs seized from Texas motel

The search warrant reportedly also led to the seizure of a handgun, ammunition and illegal narcotics from the motel room the suspect was found in.

SEGUIN, Texas — The Seguin Police Department has arrested a man wanted in connection to a New Year’s Day road-rage shooting.

On Jan. 1, SPD says Shiye Fuentes became the prime suspect in a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours in Seguin.

On Friday, the SPD Case Unit and New Braunfels Street Crimes Unit gathered enough information to determine where Fuentes was staying. Around 11 p.m., a SWAT team conducted a search warrant at a motel in New Braunfels and arrested Fuentes.

The search warrant reportedly also led to the seizure of a handgun, ammunition and illegal narcotics from the motel room Fuentes was found in.

Fuentes has been booked into the Guadalupe County Jail on a $175,000 bond.

“We appreciate the collaboration between Seguin PD, New Braunfels PD, and all involved in bringing this case to a resolution,” SPD said.
