The crash took place on Dec. 24 and the suspect ran from the scene before turning himself in days later.
SAN ANTONIO — A man turned himself in days after causing a crash and fleeing from the scene without rendering aid to an injured individual.
On Dec. 24, the San Antonio Police Department responded to the 7900 block of Tezel Road after receiving reports of a crash.
Upon arrival, officials found an individual who suffered non-life-threatening injuries due to the crash. Witnesses told police they saw the suspect run a red light and hit the car of the injured person before running away.
On Dec. 28, Dimantre Rene Gaines, 26, turned himself into police saying he was responsible for the crash. According to an affidavit, Gaines said he fell asleep behind the wheel after he’d been “up all night playing video games.”
Gaines was arrested and faces a charge for collision involving injury.
