He thought he was hearing fireworks but it was actually gunfire.
SAN ANTONIO — A man was wounded when what he thought was just the sounds of fireworks turned out to be gunshots in his west side neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
It happened just after midnight as we rang in the New Year in the 400 block of North San Ignacio Avenue near Ruiz Street.
A couple out in their front yard thought they were hearing fireworks but instead it was sound of gunshots. The man, who officers say is in his 30s, was hit by a stray bullet in his arm. He was taken to University Hospital.
Police have not released any information about a possible suspect.
This is an ongoing investigation.
