Deputies say the suspect fled an RV resort after allegedly choking someone.
KERR COUNTY, Texas — The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man previously described as “armed and dangerous” in a CodeRed alert.
Investigators say 44-year-old David Bryan Cox Jr. is accused of assaulting a juvenile at a RV resort in the 2800 block of Goat Creek Road and then fleeing on foot.
Cox was taken into custody at about 11:05 a.m. after deputies and investigators found him hiding in a nearby field.
Witnesses had previously reported Cox was armed with at least one firearm while wearing a ballistic vest and a gun belt with multiple magazines. Investigators did not find these items on his person. A county spokesperson told KENS 5 they were continuing to search the area Friday afternoon.
The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office says the deputies responded to the incident shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday at an RV resort in the off of Goat Creek Road. Kerrville EMS treated the assaulted juvenile at the scene while deputies and investigators from specialized units launched an immediate search. A warrant was issued for Cox, charging him with assault by strangulation.
A Kerr County press release said Cox is currently undergoing a medical evaluation and is expected to be booked into the Kerr County Jail.
KENS 5 contacted Kerr County Jail at 5:30 p.m. but staff refused to say whether Cox had been booked at that time.
