SAN ANTONIO — Thousands of runners will lace up their shoes and hit the pavement in the first-ever San Antonio Marathon this weekend, snaking their way through downtown and local neighborhoods across three races of varying distances.

The races get underway Friday with an evening 5K before the half-marathon and marathon runs on Sunday morning. Translation: If you’re looking to get somewhere downtown or the near-north side stretching to Olmos Park and Alamo Heights on Sunday, expect to see plenty of red on your preferred GPS app and plenty of orange barricades on the roads.
