Mariners beat Skubal, Tigers in ALDS Game 2 to even series

The series is now even at 1-1 with Game 3 coming Tuesday in Detroit.

SEATTLE — Get the latest updates as the Mariners look to even the American League Division Series (ALDS) in Game 2 against the Detroit Tigers at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.

7:49 p.m.

Munoz gets the Tigers out in order to close out the Game 2 victory. The series is now even at 1-1 with Game 3 coming Tuesday in Detroit. Logan Gilbert will be the Mariners’ starting pitcher.

7:42 p.m.

Naylor pops out to end the eighth inning, Mariners will turn to Andres Munoz to try and close out Game 2 in the top of the ninth.

7:36 p.m.

After Polanco got on base yet again, Suarez grounded to third and the Tigers threw home to get Rodriguez out to keep the score 3-2. 

7:29 p.m.

Cal Raleigh gets his first hit of the night with a double to put a runner in scoring position with one out in the eighth. Julio Rodriguez then turns on a ball and drives Raleigh in with a double, Mariners regain the lead 3-2.

7:24 p.m.

Spencer Torkelson lines a ball down the right-field line to bring home a pair of runners in the top of the eighth inning off Brash to tie the game at 2-2. Kyle Finnegan comes on to pitch for the Tigers in the bottom half of the inning.

7:14 p.m.

Matt Brash comes on for Mariners to begin eighth inning and walks Gleyber Torres.

6:54 p.m.

Eduard Bazardo enters as pitcher for Mariners to begin seventh inning.

6:49 p.m.

Polanco crushes another home run off Skubal with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 2-0 Mariners.

6:44 p.m.

Speier gets the Tigers out in order to begin the sixth inning at T-Mobile Park.

6:34 p.m.

Speier gets the Mariners out of a jam in the top of the fifth inning. J.P. Crawford reached on a bunt single, but Arozarena struck out to retire the side for the Mariners. 1-0 Seattle after five innings.

6:25 p.m.

Mariners pull Castillo with runners on first and third in the top of the fifth inning. Castillo only allowed one hit. Gabe Speier now on the mound for the Mariners.

6:10 p.m.

Jorge Polanco strikes first with a solo home run off Skubal in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 1-0 Mariners.

6:00 p.m.

Castillo breezes through top of third inning. After a Victor Robles walk to start the Mariners’ half, Tarik Skubal got the next three batters out. Scoreless tie after three innings.

5:40 p.m.

Luis Castillo’s pitch count climbs to 51 as he struggles to efficiently get batters out. However, after a pair of Tigers got on base, Castillo managed to strike out Parker Meadows to keep Detroit scoreless. The Mariners go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the second inning, with Mitch Garver closing things out by striking out.

5:21 p.m.

Both teams go scoreless in the first inning. Randy Arozarena leads the bottom half off with the first hit of the game, but the Mariners’ next three batters were retired in a row.
