Masked thieves pull off smash-and-grab robbery at jewelry counter inside a N. Houston grocery store

Police say the suspects also pepper sprayed employees. It’s the third robbery of grocery store jewelers in the last couple weeks.

HOUSTON — Houston police have released video of a smash and grab robbery at a north Houston grocery store in the middle of the afternoon. It’s the third time recently that a jewelry store inside a grocery store has been targeted.

It happened on July 17 at a little after 3 p.m. at the store on West Little York near the North Freeway. Four suspects in hoodies and dark clothing went into the store and headed straight for the jewelry section. They immediately started smashing the display cases with a sledgehammer, while spraying employees with pepper spray. They got away with several pieces of jewelry and took off in a red Hyundai Sonata.

If you know who these guys are, you know what to do. Contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS. Information leading to charging and/or arrests could earn you a reward of up to $5,000.

This is the third time in recent weeks that suspects have pulled off smash-and-grab robberies inside grocery stories with jewelry stores inside them.  On July 22, suspect hit a Food Town in Pearland.  In that case, a customer tried to stop the suspects with a grocery cart. And on July 28, suspects got away with jewelry after smashing the display cases and pepper spraying employees at a League City H-E-B.

At this point, it’s not clear if it’s the same suspects.
