CPS Energy has sold the 5.9-acre site of a former downtown service center in the Museum Reach neighborhood to a McCombs family property group. McCombs Family Partners purchased the site that sits at the corner of West Jones Avenue and Camden Street and is referred to as the Jones Avenue Service Center, according to a deed filed with Bexar County records on Monday, January 23.

The site was at one time believed to be a prospective site of a baseball stadium for the San Antonio Missions along with six other sites, the Express-News reported in November 2022. MySA reached out to Harry Adams IV, the managing partner for McCombs Properties, for comment. Adams told the San Antonio Report that nothing is off the table but a baseball stadium isn’t in the McCombs family’s current plans.

Adams also said to the SA Report that he was not ready to divulge the McCombs family’s plans for the property yet but that the land was “a special piece of property” that McCombs Family Partners had its eye on for about three years. The McCombs family also bought the Tower Life Building with other real estate investors with plans to turn it into a mixed-use residential development.

The property was sold for $29.5 million, according to the San Antonio Report. MySA reached out to CPS Energy for comment and to confirm the sale price.

CPS Energy’s board conveyed 1-acre of this property last year to the San Antonio Museum of Art, which is just down the street from the Jones Avenue property.
