SAN ANTONIO — Meals on Wheels San Antonio says in just a few weeks, they’ll be cutting costs and services.
Right now, Meals on Wheels says “hundreds” of people who rely on those hot meals and welfare checks will be impacted, as well as those relying on AniMeals, a companion pet food service.
Meals on Wheels says the decision comes as they’re seeing cuts from funding that comes from the Alamo Area Council of Governments.
“This is one of the most difficult decisions we’ve ever had to make,” said Vinsen Faris, CEO of Meals on Wheels San Antonio.
The impact begins the week of November 3.
Meals on Wheels says they’ll be sending a letter to those affected which will have details, referrals and meal assistance alternatives.
Something to note, one of Meals on Wheels’ biggest pushes in the city is their Thanksgiving holiday meal service.
We have not yet learned if this funding shortfall will cut back on the number of plates they will be able to provide over the holidays.
