Meet the first 2025 babies born in Houston in the wee hours of New Year’s Day

Two newborns, both girls, were delivered just after midnight Wednesday and four more women gave birth within the first few hours of the new year.

HOUSTON — Houston-area hospitals are showing off photos of their first 2025 babies born in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.  

The four baby girls and two boys were delivered between 12:02 a.m. and 4:37 a.m. in the Texas Medical Center, The Woodlands and Baytown. 

One eager baby decided to make an early entrance while his mom and dad from the New Orleans area were in H-Town visiting family for the holidays.

Congratulations to all of the proud parents and welcome to the world, little ones! 

Baby Cali

The Woman’s Hospital of Texas welcomed the first baby of 2025 at 12:02 a.m. on Jan. 1. Mom, Italy Akei LeBlac of Houston, knew it was a possibility that she could deliver around the New Year, but never expected Cali to be the hospital’s first baby born in the new year. Cali weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces. 

Baby Adyline

Memorial Hermann Health System welcomed its first baby of 2025 two minutes later at 12:04 a.m. 

Adyline Harris was born at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center.

Adyline weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and measured 19.75 inches long at birth. She is the first child of proud parents Kyla Grube and Nathan Harris.

Hospital officials congratulated the family and celebrated the arrival as a joyful start to 2025.

Baby Emily

Houston Methodist’s first newborn of 2025 arrived at 1:39 a.m. at Houston Methodist The Woodlands.

Emily Elisabeth was born to Katie and Sebastian Olivera, weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces and 19.5” long. 

This is the first baby for Katie and Sebastian and they are looking forward to celebrating this new chapter in their lives. 

Baby Jonah

A baby at 1:46 a.m. was the first boy born in 2025 at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women in Houston. 

Jonah Munoz Soriano weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces. 

Jonah is the fifth child for Paloma Munoz and Abraham Soriano. He has two older brothers and two older sisters. 

Baby Ariely

Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2025 at 3 a.m. on Wednesday. 

Ariely Yarleth Contreras weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces at birth and measured 19 inches long.

Parents Brenda Peralta and Ruben Contreras of Baytown are elated about the birth of their new daughter.

They received a special gift basket prepared by the labor and delivery department nurses in honor of delivering the first baby of the year.  

Baby Jayden

Our last early bird baby was welcomed into the world at 4:37 a.m. Wednesday at  St. Luke’s Health Greater Houston. 

Jayden Hernandez weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and measure 20 1/4 inches long. 

Mom and dad, Marcely Garcia Ruz and Efron Hernandez, are from the New Orleans area and were in town visiting family to celebrate the New Year when their first child decided to make his entrance. Everyone is doing well.

The family was given a special gift basket to celebrate their New Year’s Day baby.
