LIVE OAK, Texas — A major healthcare expansion is officially underway in Northeast San Antonio.
Methodist Hospital | Northeast broke ground Tuesday on a $146 million patient tower designed to increase inpatient capacity and better serve the growing Live Oak community.
The multi-story, 100,000-square-foot tower will connect to the existing hospital and add 14 critical care beds and 64 medical-surgical beds. Hospital leaders say the project will also eliminate all dual-occupancy rooms and include expanded support spaces, such as a modernized kitchen and larger dining area.
Local leaders, including State Senator José Menéndez and Live Oak Mayor Mary Dennis, joined hospital officials at the ceremony to highlight the project’s impact on the region.
“As this area grows, so do the needs of the families who live and work here,” said hospital CEO Jerrica George. “We’re committed to growing alongside them and ensuring high-quality care keeps pace with our community.”
Hospital officials say the new tower is designed to support the region’s healthcare needs for years to come.
