UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas — SAN ANTONIO: Randolph Elementary’s Michelle Sanguinetti wins KENS 5 EXCEL Award for inspiring young musicians.

In the music room at Randolph Elementary School, kindergartners laugh, dance, and sing with a level of joy that feels rare—yet completely natural under the guidance of, Michelle Sanguinetti, this week’s KENS 5 EXCEL Award winner.

This is the kind of music class every child dreams of, and Sanguinetti is the kind of teacher who makes that dream feel easy.

While her accomplishments across Randolph ISD are extensive, it only takes a few minutes in her classroom to understand why she was selected for this honor.

During the surprise award presentation, Sanguinetti shared a short reflection that captured the heart of her teaching philosophy. “I’ll be a better somebody when I leave.”

It’s a sentiment her students see lived out every day.

Sanguinetti radiates energy and positivity, and her students feel it the moment they step inside the room.

Fifth-grader Amelia Garcia said she looks forward to music class for a very simple reason.

“Whenever I step into the music class, I can just feel the energy that she brings,” student, Amelia Garcia said.

Sanguinetti believes deeply in the responsibility teachers carry, especially for young learners still discovering who they want to become.

“As teachers, I think we are truly models for these young people,” Excel Award winner,  Michelle Sanguinetti said. “The way we speak, the way we act… What we bring to the classroom every single day, what we bring to the school every single day, should reflect what we want to see from them.”

It’s a philosophy that shows up not only in her teaching, but in the culture she helps create across the campus.

Sanguinetti’s role within the district extends far beyond her classroom. She also leads the Randolph Elementary Chior, coaches the UIL Music Memory team, and choreographs the annual high school musical

Her passion for the arts and for her students’ success has made her a beloved figure throughout Randolph ISD.

As part of the EXCEL Award, Sanguinetti received a $2,000 check from Credit Human, recognizing her exceptional commitment to teaching. She says she hopes to use the funds to purchase new choir uniforms for her students.

Sanguinetti’s impact is felt in every note sung, every step danced, and every smile shared in her classroom. Her EXCEL Award is not just a recognition of her achievements—it’s a celebration of the joy and inspiration she brings to Randolph Elementary every single day.
