WASHINGTON — NBC’s Mike Tirico is gearing up for a legendary February as he’s slated to host the Winter Olympics and the Super Bowl on the same day.
Tirico is one of many broadcasters for the network who will work multiple events during the month of February. The NBC broadcaster will call his first Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 8, from the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Immediately after that, he will turn his Olympic brain on and host “Primetime in Milan” as he begins his fifth Olympic primetime hosting assignment.
Tirico will perform his Olympic hosting duties from Santa Clara on Feb. 8 and will then travel to Milan, where he will begin his on-site reporting for the Milan Cortina Winter Games. The fastest flight between the two cities is roughly 13 hours.
This isn’t the first time Tirico has been assigned to double-host major sporting events. In 2022, he pulled a similar stunt, having traveled to Beijing for NBC’s Olympics coverage, then flying to Los Angeles for Super Bowl 56.
For 2026, Tirico is taking the double hosting meaning to a new level, hosting the Super Bowl play-by-play and the Winter Olympics primetime show within a few hours from each other.
When are the Winter Olympics?
The Winter Olympics are set to open Feb. 6, 2026, through Feb. 22, 2026. The Paralympic Winter Games will begin a month after, Mar. 6, 2026, through Mar. 16, 2026.
Olympic events are scheduled in venues spanning the Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the autonomous provinces of Alto Adige and Trentino, with many hours of driving between them.
Roughly 3,500 athletes from 93 countries will compete in the 16 Olympic and six Paralympic sports events next year in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Several prolific American athletes are expected to compete, with the U.S. a top contender for overall medal count.
