KERRVILLE, Texas — East Texas country artist Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation foundation is raising money to help animals impacted by floods in the Texas Hill Country.
The organization has already raised over $7,000 of its $15,000 goal as of Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the fundraiser began. The fundraiser is hosted through Instagram, and donations can be made here.
The organization was founded funded by Miranda and her mother, Bev, in 2009 to support the adoption of shelter pets, advance spay and neuter, educate the public about pet health and provide assistance to shelters during natural disasters. President Trump signed a major disaster declaration for Kerr County, the Hill Country county suffering from a major flash flood, on Sunday.
The death toll rose to 59 on Sunday in Kerr County alone, with additional deaths reported in Travis, Burnet and Kendall counties.
Organizations like Kerrville Pets Alive and Kerr County Animal Services have also joined the effort to house animals displaced by the flooding and reconnect them to their owners.
Since MuttNation’s founding, the organization has raised over $11 million and assisted more than 1,000 shelters, according to the organization’s website.
