Ellie Breaux was crowned Miss Texas 2023 a month after graduating college.
DALLAS — Ellie Breaux has stepped on some pretty big stages in the last year.
She crossed the graduation stage to receive her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas. One month later, she was crowned onstage as Miss Texas 2023.
Last Sunday, Breaux went on to represent the Lone Star State on the 2024 Miss America pageant stage in Florida and came out as first runner-up for the crown.
Miss Texas came second to Miss Colorado, Madison Marsh. As a 2nd lieutenant in the Air Force, Marsh made history as the first active duty servicemember to ever win the title.
Breaux made an Instagram post to not only celebrate her runner-up victory, but to celebrate the new Miss America.
“To [Madison Marsh], you’re undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with. You are a beautiful woman that is going to carry that crown with grace and poise. I am genuinely thrilled to witness your year, and rest assured, I’ll be right by your side, offering unwavering support!” Breaux wrote.
Miss Texas’ alma mater was cheering her on for pageant day. UNT posted their best wishes for Breaux that morning. The North Texas Dancer, which Breaux was a member of, also commented on the post saying they were also rooting for her.
UNT also reminded everyone that Breaux isn’t the only alumna who went for the Miss America crown.
Phyllis George won Miss America in 1971, followed by Shirley Cothran Barret in 1975.
The most recent alumna who won Miss America was R’Bonney Gabriel, who then took the top crown as Miss Universe in 2022.
