Missing 79-year-old Houston man found dead in Louisiana lake

Police said Charles Veith, 79, of Houston, went to New Orleans to visit family for the holidays. He was reported missing on Christmas Day.

KENNER, La. — The body of a missing Houston man was recovered after he went missing in Lousiana, according to the Kenner Police Department.

Police said Charles Veith, 79, of Houston, went to New Orleans to visit family for the holidays. He was reported missing on Christmas Day.

On Dec. 31 at around 8:30 a.m., Kenner police discovered Veith’s body near the Kenner Boat Launch.

Police said there were no signs of foul play at the scene. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

Veith’s vehicle, a grey Ford Edge with a Texas Knights of Columbus license plate, has not yet been found.

The circumstances leading up to Veith’s disappearance are unknown.
