DALLAS — A missing fisherman was found dead Monday in a boat on a North Texas lake, deputies say.
Hunt County deputies were called about a missing person last seen on the Caddo Creek Landing boat ramp on Lake Tawakoni shortly after 3 p.m., officials say.
Deputies were told a 79-year-old man had been at the boat ramp to go fishing. When he didn’t return as expected, family members searched the area and found his vehicle and boat trailer parked at the ramp, officials say.
Officials with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, South Hunt County Fire Rescue, and the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office searched the lake and found the fisherman dead in the boat, which was anchored in a shallow cove, according to a press release. The fisherman was not identified.
“A breathing treatment device was discovered on board, and it is believed the individual may have suffered an asthma-related medical emergency,” the press release stated. “The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”
Deputies say they don’t suspect foul play and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
