Missing Mesquite, Texas, teen has been found

Marlene Galvez has been found and is with her family, according to investigators.

SAN ANTONIO — UPDATE: Marlene Galvez has been found and is with her family, according to investigators.

Desperate mother Brenda Huerta is on a mission to San Antonio to find her daughter, who is 16 years old but much more child-like than her age suggests.

“She is kind of slow. She gets a lot of confusion. She thinks talking to a stranger is right,” Huerta said of Marlene Galvez, who vanished Monday from her home in Mesquite, about 13 miles east of Dallas.

Huerta said the slight girl, who is almost 5 feet tall, left home with no phone and no resources, but somehow posted to social media that she made it to the Greyhound bus station in San Antonio.

“She will talk to anyone who will say something nice to her,” Huerta said of Marlene, adding she’s far too trusting. “I’m actually on the way right now to San Antonio.”

Huerta said her daughter’s Instagram has privacy settings, but someone shared a post in which the girl said she might be on the way to the Texas-Mexico border.

When she disappeared, Huerta said, her daughter was wearing a navy blue shirt, black pants and black Nike shoes.

Mesquite PD has an open missing persons case. The agency’s non-emergency number for anyone who may have seen the girl is (972) 216-6228.

Police in Mesquite, Texas confirm they're looking for Marlene Galvez, 15, and they think pictures of her online may have been taken in downtown San Antonio.
