Families can now sign up to host soldiers for Mission Thanksgiving, giving servicemembers a family setting during the holiday.
SAN ANTONIO — Registration is now open for Mission Thanksgiving, a program where you and your family can host soldiers for Thanksgiving.
This is all about giving soldiers away from home a chance to be in a family setting.
If you’re looking to host this year you must be able to take two soldiers as there is a “buddy system.” You must also undergo a background check.
Pickup and drop-off will be made at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston.
Mission Thanksgiving at Fort Sam Houston began when local families and installation chaplains wanted a program that allowed soldiers to take a break from their hard work in a family setting. Last year was the first year the program was back since COVID started.
MEDCoE employees are not allowed to participate.
The deadline to register is October 20.
