MNPD: 2 students shot at Nashville high school; person responsible shot himself, ‘no longer a threat’

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three students, including the suspect, were wounded after a shooting at Antioch High School Wednesday morning, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. They said the shooter shot himself.

The shooting happened in the cafeteria, according to WSMV. The situation is now reportedly contained.

MNPD said there is a reunification site for parents and their children. Metro Nashville Public Schools said students will be taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital (3754 Murfreesboro Pike) by bus including car riders.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation sent HELP trucks to assist with traffic control in response to the shooting.

Metro Nashville Public Schools provided the following statement:

Families and community: Antioch High School is on a lockdown due to shots being fired inside the school building. Metro Police are on the scene. The person responsible for shooting is no longer a threat. We will be gathering students in the auditorium and will provide information on reunification as soon as possible.

This is an active crime scene and investigation. We will work with the MNPD to provide further updates as they become available.
