Parsons signed his first big contract after being traded to the Green Bay Packers. His new deal was the biggest in NFL history for a non-quarterback.
DALLAS — Micah Parsons just got paid.
But it’s not by the team who most thought would be writing the check.
After a contract stalemate with the Dallas Cowboys, Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark. The Packers agreed to a deal with Parsons to make him the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Parsons and the Packers agreed to a four-year, $188 million contract. His $47 million salary per year resets the market for defensive players, breaking Steelers T.J Watts $41 million per year contract. Parsons was previously still on his rookie contract, which paid him $4.2 million annually, so this is Parsons’ first big pay day in the NFL.
After securing the deal with the Packers to become the highest paid defensive player ever, Parsons shared an emotional video to his Instagram story, hugging his mom.
“That moment when your [sic] momma never gotta work again,” Parsons captioned on the video. “God, you are amazing!”

Parsons will make his return to AT&T Stadium in Week 4 of the season, and ticket prices are already rising. The Cowboys open their season on Thursday, Sept. 4 against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
