San Antonio parents listen up, a popular children’s clothing store recently announced it is axing multiple locations. In a call during Carter’s fiscal third-quarter report, the team revealed they would be shuttering at least 150 stores across the U.S.
“We are now targeting 150 North America door closures, most of leases expire, up to 100 of which we expect to exit by 2026,” Carter’s CEO Douglas Palladini said in the call.
He goes on to the say the company is “pausing any further expansion of the current U.S. store model.” Tariffs were identified as one of the main drivers behind shrinking margins and rising expenses. He also said the brand plans to reduce office-based roles by 15%, or roughly 300 jobs, a move projected to save about $35 million each year.
According to the company’s website, Carter’s, which also owns the OshKosh B’gosh brand, has at least four locations in San Antonio. Data from ScrapeHero shows Texas has the second-highest number of Carter’s locations in the U.S., with 123 stores. MySA reached out to Carter’s to learn if Texas will be impacted by the closures, but did not hear back prior to publication.
The company has over 1,000 locations in the U.S., according to its website. Carter’s clothes can also be found on Amazon, Walmart and Target, reports say.
