11 San Antonio-area community bands will unite March 28 for a full day of live music at the largest community band festival in Texas.
SAN ANTONIO — Grab a lawn chair and get ready for a full day of music.
The Greater San Antonio Community Bands Association is hosting its 5th annual Community Band Music Festival on Saturday, March 28, bringing together 11 local community bands and more than 500 musicians for what organizers say is the largest community band festival in Texas.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the outdoor Biergarten at Beethoven Maennerchor in the King William District.
Throughout the day, audiences can enjoy a wide range of wind band music, including performances by the oldest German band outside of Germany and the award-winning Heart of Texas Concert Band.
Organizers say the festival is about more than just music, it’s about connection. Community bands bring together musicians of all ages and backgrounds, preserving traditions while strengthening bonds across generations.
“Music is more than sound,” organizers said. “It’s how a community hears itself.”
The festival is open to the public and promises a full day of live performances celebrating San Antonio’s vibrant community band scene.
