More than $930K of alleged cocaine found hidden in vehicle at border, officials say

Border Patrol agents found the 32 packages containing almost 70 pounds of the drugs inside a car being driven by a man from Mexico.

DEL RIO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found more than $930,000 worth of alleged cocaine hidden inside a vehicle at the Del Rio Port of Entry.

A CBP officer decided to take a closer look at Chevy Captiva being driven by 75-year-old man from Mexico on May 9.

Using both nonintrusive imaging officers located 32 packages containing almost 70 pounds of the illegal drugs hidden inside a compartment in the seats. Officials say the cocaine had a combined estimated street value of $930,766.

“This significant narcotic seizure emphasizes the steadfast commitment our officers have to keeping our community safe,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry. “These types of seizures reinforce the importance of CBP’s mission to secure our borders.”
