
Officials said Comal County Judge Sherman Krause, who recently announced retirement, passed away at his home early Saturday morning. He was 62-years-old.
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — Comal County Judge Sherman Krause died early Saturday morning at his home, according to county officials.
Officials said Krause had served the citizens of Comal County since taking office Jan. 1, 2011, providing “steady leadership during periods of both challenge and progress.”
Judge Krause had recently announced retirement, according to the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung.
“Our Comal County family is devastated by this loss,” officials said in a statement. “Judge Krause was more than a leader. He was a colleague, a mentor, and a friend to many.”
Officials asked the community to keep Krause’s family in their prayers during what they described as a difficult time.
A cause of death has not been released at this time. Comal County officials said additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
