Good Samaritans save driver from burning car
When a driver was trapped inside a burning car in Minnesota in April, several strangers risked the intense flames to get the driver out. They were able to break a window and get the driver to safety. The short clip got more than 32 million views!
Texas teens baited by Mexican cartel
Dramatic video showed a high-speed chase involving a 15-year-old smuggler from San Antonio that ended with the driver losing control and vaulting over I-35. The video was part of a KENS 5 investigation on how to steer clear of a dangerous trend of drug cartels recruiting Texas teenagers. The viral video got about 7.9 million views.
Man fires shot after teens tried to break into his car
A homeowner fired shots on the ground after he saw teens breaking into his car. No one was hurt, but the man says he and his family were left shaken by the incident. The video touched a cord with the audience, with many sharing their experiences of having their cars broken into at their homes. Others appreciated the man’s restraint in not harming the teens. The video got 1.9 million views.
Man attempts to save victim killed at Trump rally
Natinal news took center stage in July when a gunman tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania. While Trump received a gunshot wound to the ear, the gunman killed one other person at the rally and critically injured two others. Stories quickly came out of heroic actions of people at the rally as the bullets rang out. The story of one man who tried to save the victim who was killed received 828K views.
A Shaq-sized surprise for a Texas teen in need of size 22-cleats
NBA superstar Shaquile O’Neal stepped up to help a San Antonio teen whose mom put out the call about the difficulty of finding size 22 football cleats. Shaq saw himself in this teenager and, in a kind gesture, found a way to help the young man. The video touched many hearts and received 951K views on YouTube.
Woman arrested at Quarry Market after chase
One viral video caught the attention of people in San Antonio and around the country. A woman who DPS believes was intoxicated allegedly led troopers on a chase that ended at the Quarry Market. People commenting on the video marveled that the woman did not seem to have any remorse and was smiling and laughing for cameras as she was arrested. The video garnered 576K views.
Texas restaurant causes a stir with offensive signs
They say any publicity is good publicity, so one Killeen restaurant owner must be celebrating. The owner of Ferrari’s Italian restaurant allows customers to bring in posters of anything they want. Most are pretty harmless but the restaurant made headlines when a German tourist posted some examples in a viral post. The video received 485K views.

In 2024, home prices skyrocketted even more, following a trend the previous few years. KENS 5 looked into a San Antonio neighborhood of tiny homes allowing people at achieve their dream at a fraction of the cost. The charming, affordable options took the internet by storm.
