Most of the personal belongings in the home sustained smoke damage.
SAN ANTONIO — A trailer home caught on fire Monday morning sending three people to the hospital, according to Bexar County fire officials.
Firefighters responded to a structure fire around 10 a.m. on Red Mountain Drive in Elmendorf.
Officials say three people were inside the home when it caught fire. Neighbors reportedly helped get a mom and her two children out of the house. The mom and kids were taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.
A battalion chief on scene said fire crews were able to quickly contain the fire but most of the personal items within the home sustained smoke damage.
Officials say the fire appeared to have started in the chimney but they are not sure what specifically caused the blaze.
The battalion chief urged the public to be make sure they are doing annual cleanings within the chimney and that owners know how to properly operate their vent systems.
