SEGUIN, Texas — The Seguin Police Department says a woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her mother several times in the face, arms and back.
On Jan. 13, SPD responded to the 900 block of Tony Lee Street after receiving several calls reporting an assault that was taking place.
Upon arrival officers found the victim, identified as a 55-year-old female and mother of the alleged suspect, suffering from several stab wounds to her face, arms and back.
The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Alyssa Camarena.
Witnesses told police they heard yelling and screaming while also seeing the attack take place. When one of the neighbors attempted to intervene, Camarena reportedly left the scene.
Further investigation revealed that the victim had arrived at the residence when Camarena suddenly attacked her, allegedly stabbing her several times with a large pocket knife.
Camarena was located and arrested by police and taken to the Guadalupe County Jail where she faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.
Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive but “faces a long road to recovery.”
