Motorcycle driver evades police, gets killed in major crash in Schertz, police say

SAN ANTONIO — A motorcyclist died following a major crash Wednesday afternoon in Schertz, authorities said. 

Schertz Police responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Schertz Parkway and Elbel Road around 12:30 p.m. 

Authorities said the motorcycle driver was evading Converse police while traveling northbound on Schertz Parkway from FM 28 at a high rate of speed, right before the crash. 

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital but later died from his injuries, police said. 

The intersection of Schertz Parkway was initially closed while authorities gathered evidence. The intersection was reopened around 3:00 p.m. 

The Texas DPS Accident Reconstruction Team and the Guadalupe County Precinct Constables Office are assisting with the investigation.
