Motorcycle groups are on high alert after deadly weekend of crashes

SAN ANTONIO — Motorcycle groups are on alert after a deadly weekend on the road.

Now, a new push for safety is happening for riders in San Antonio.

Caliente Harley Davidson is having a rider safety meeting Tuesday night from 8 until 10 p.m. and will include a moment of silence for the three men who died this weekend.

The first crash happened Saturday night around 11 p.m. on I-10 West near UTSA Boulevard.

Police say 20-year-old Nicholas Galindo was racing another biker and lost control on the freeway and was thrown from his bike. At the same time, police say an 18-wheeler was changing lanes, and hit Galindo. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The second crash happened Sunday night at the SW Military intersection of Logwood Avenue. Police say a 25-year-old Chandler Krueger was speeding past the traffic light and crashed into a truck and sedan. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The last crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday night on I-35 North. Police say 50-year-old Wayne McBride lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. He also died from his injuries.

Caliente Harley Davidson says some of these men had attended their rider safety class.

This group meets every Tuesday, bringing out 300-400 people a week.
